🇵🇭 Philippines – Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat
Arabica | Washed | Medium–Medium Dark Roast
Tasting Notes: Cocoa Nibs, Caramel, Pistachio, Brown Sugar, Roasted Nuts
Sail south to Mindanao with this comforting, chocolate-forward coffee from Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat, a region quietly redefining what Philippine Arabica can be.
Roasted to a medium to medium-dark profile, this coffee leans into warmth and balance. Expect flavors of cocoa nibs and caramel, layered with pistachio and roasted nuts, and carried by a buttery, creamy body. A gentle citrus-herbal lift—think lime zest and a soft oregano note—adds dimension without pulling the cup out of its cozy lane. The finish is smooth, sweet, and milk-chocolatey, making this an easy, grounding daily drink.
This is a comfort cup through and through — familiar, rich, and deeply satisfying.
The Story Behind Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat
Coffee in the Philippines has a long history, but specialty Arabica from Mindanao is only recently beginning to gain the attention it deserves.
This lot comes from smallholder farmers in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat, supported by Kalsada Coffee, a Filipino social enterprise focused on farmer-driven quality improvement and long-term sustainability. The coffee is processed at Sitio San Roque, a mill built in 2020 specifically to elevate Mindanao coffee quality through better infrastructure, training, and consistency.
By investing in washed processing, careful fermentation, and drying standards, Kalsada and partner farmers are helping revive Philippine Arabica — bridging traditional farming knowledge with modern specialty practices.
The result is a coffee that feels both rooted and refined.
